The Winter Palace (along the banks of the neva river) this I believe dates back to Catherine the Great’s time
The Anitchkov Palace (in the city, home to Alexander II)
Tsarskoe Selo (outside of the city, this has the Alexander and the Catherine Palace – the former was home to Nicholas II and Empress Alexandra)
The Hermitage Museum (formerly a palace, built by Catherine the Great to serve as a home for the writer Voltaire should he choose to come to Russia)
Fortress of St Peter and Paul
Cathedral of Our Lady of Kazan
The Alexander Nevsky Monastery of the Holy Trinity
Yusupov Palace – where rasputin was murdered
Peterhotf Palace (outside the city, summer palace for the tsars)
The rivers and canals (the city is known as the Venice of the East)

St Petersburg is beautiful.
I would defintely recommend Hermitage for incredible art, and Peterhof for great architecture and gardens.
You should also not miss the Church of the Spilt Blood.
Thanks
