    Matrioshka is a term rooted to mean "mother." It is the name given to a set of wooden dolls. "Babushka," which means grandmother, is commonly (in error) used to describe a matrioshka doll.

    babushka means grandmother, matrioshke means a doll, or set of dolls, wooden dolls that could be open in the middle and another one a smaller one is inside, when you open the smaller one, there's yet another and so on.
