Yes! He gained power by manipulating the Tsaritsa, and he did that by preying on her weak point – her concern for her son.

What do you think?

Yeah, pretty much. He used the tsar’s sick son to extort political power from the imperial family. Not to mention all the drugs and orgies.
Plus, have you ever seen a picture of the guy? Those eyes of his give me the heebie-jeebies.

Umm do you really have to ask? Yes, of course he was. Seriously how could you not think he was evil? He used the Czar and basically was running Russia. Mind you most Czars didn't have a clue what was going on in the country anyway. That was what brought about the revolution. The people didn't realize that the Czars thought everything was great.

I don’t think you can answer that for certain. Ignore the above person. She is right about what he did, but interpreting it and its motivations is another deal entirely. Maybe he did a bad thing for good intentions. Maybe he sensed that Russia was on the brink of collapse- the evidence was there. Often times throughout history the real brilliance wasn’t the man/woman on the throne, but the ones behind the curtains. You really…really don’t know. I mean maybe there is evidence, such as things he had written that can get you inside of him….but I’m going to have to say that, no, he wasn’t.

Today we would call him a predator and a pervert. But, the Czarina loved her hemophiliac son so much, she put all of her trust in him as a sort of healer, and the Czar loved his wife so dearly, he just turned his head and pretended not to see this nutcase in his family's inner circle. He had an enormous sexual appetite , but even this was forgiven in the Russian palaces because the Czarina was confident he could heal her son.

Yes. Do some research. It is a fascinating story.

Evil, maniulating, murdered all of his rivals…you be the judge.

Of course not, he was a man of God. He was creepy though (I don't know why the ladies liked him so much).
There is no such thing as evil, in my opinion. Opportunistic and power hungry would be the right words for Rasputin, but not evil.
