Question by Yellow Rat: Do you think it was right for the Russian orthodox church to make the Romanov family saints?
Why or Why Not?

Why cares?
I suppose it was good politics for them and got them lots of $ $ $ though. That’s what religion is all about after all.

PS:
I just noticed that some people lack a lot of education…
The Romanov’s are the Russian royal family. The Czars. The whole family was murdered / executed in the revolution.

I kind of have a soft spot for the Romanov's so I'm inclined to think it's ok, but honestly, there isn't any religious reason that it should have happened.

No. Nicholas was incompetent and his military bungling led to the deaths of millions of Russian soldiers in WWI. Alexandra was sucked in by the con man Rasputin and made him her top advisor, to the detriment of her country. Neither did much to help the Russian people. They didn't deserve to be executed, but they did deserve to be overthrown. And they certainly never performed any miracles or did anything else to warrant sainthood. I would be interested in reading the Church's official rationale for this move.

Well, Eastern Catholic Churches retain the right to glorify their own saints.

However, speaking as a Russian I do not think any of the Romanov family were saints. Just look at history.

Is ir right or wrong? Who knows, it is all subjective.
    *Shrugs* As is religion.

The Romanov family were not better than anyone and they were not as evil as some. The idea of being made saints is political and financial – what does any of that have to do with the principles of Christianity.
