Question by : at what age is it appropriate to read fyodor dostoevsky’s work?
I am 13 years old and my older sister bought me a book by Fyodor , called THE BEST SHORT STORIES OF FYODOR DOSTOEVSKY. My dad said i was too young to read it, but said i could try. Is Dostoevsky’s work inappropriate? Am i too young to read it? If so, why?

You are exactly at an age when you should be reading good literature. Fyodor Dostoevsky is one of the best Russian writers ever. His works generally have rather mature themes, such as guilt, redemption, love, pain, suffering etc, but there is nothing there that you cannot or should not understand.
Good luck, and kudos for your sister. I wish my sister had the good sense to give me something worth reading when I was your age.

Yeah, Dosteovsky’s got some stuff that can go above a young kid’s head. Of course it depends on your personal reading/comprehension ability. But if daddy says no, it’s a no.
