The February Revolution, which saw the overthrow of the Tsar and the establishment of the Provisional Government and the Petrograd Soviet
The July days – and attempted seizure of power by the Bolsheviks
The Kornilov Affair – an attempt (possibly) to overthrow the Provisional Government
The October Revolution – the Bolsheviks seize power
The closing of the Constituent Assembly – Democracy is snuffed out in Russia
The Civil War – 1918 – 1921
War Communism – The Bolsheviks seize peasants grain to feed the cities
New Economic Policy – an attempt to kick-start the economy after the civil war
The Scissor Crisis – agricultural prices don’t rise as much as industrial products – farmers refuse to sell their grain
Lenin shot – 1922, has a stroke & never fully recovers, dies in 1924
Stalin heads a ruling triumvirate 1924 – 1928
NEP abandoned & collectivisation of agriculture and Five Year Plans adopted as the industrial model.
