The most popular car brands are GAZ, UAZ, Moscvich.
For specific models you can look around this page http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Category:Motor_vehicle_manufacturers_of_Russia

GAZ, which is more commonly called Volga – too many models to really describe

LADA, but it depends on the model – most people call models #8 and #9 – both hatchbacks – “vosmyorka” (number 8 in Russian) and “devyatka” (number 9 in Russian), all models before that (square-angled and I believe based on Fiat) are usually referred to as Zhiguli and the models after those two (looking more and more like “foreign cars” with each model) are usually called Lada (at least that’s what people used to call them where I used to live)

Moskvich – again many models…

ZAZ or commonly known as Zaporozhets (very tiny, not very comfortable two-door car, but very cheap and therefore available to many)

UAZ – that’s already in a jeep or van class.

Kamaz – a big rig or truck

Van RAF (but I don’t know if they still manufacture them – it was in Soviet times)

More commonly used van Gazell – produced by GAZ (which stands for Gorkiy Automobile Factory)

More and more often now, though, Russians prefer foreign cars – mostly driven from Germany.

Hope this helps…

If you gave a bit more info on what you need this for I’d come up with the exact car that would suit your search better or maybe even colloqual names for some of the models of the cars I mentioned.
