Question by so: What happened to all those people shoved into Siberia?
The Soviet Union really enjoyed playing human chess and moving people around. Did people forcibly moved to Siberia ever return to their home countries?

I think some of them did eventually. Those that survived the Gulag. I think Stalin moved a lot of people from the Caucasus.

Many of them moved back to their original homeland. There was a mass diaspora of German Russians who moved back to Germany. Most of them realized the land in Siberia was unfertile, so they moved to places where the soil was more arable. There was a mass exodus of them into Kazakhstan, too.
