What if the 1991 Soviet coup d’état attempt had succeeded in spite of popular protest and non-compliance?
If the army had thrown in it’s support the outcome would have been very different surely, I can’t help wondering what sort of effect this would have had on Russia…a Stalinist tyranny reconquering the lost east Europe satellites with a new cold war, or a return to Brezhnev style stagnation they seemed to enjoy?

That would of been terrible the USA and Russia would’ve probably gone to a full scale war by then.
