if you like coffee, SPB is the best city- besides rome! enjoy coffee and cake at a smallish cafe, or anywhere. some sell americano with the only difference from expresso is a HUGE cup full, where expresso is a small shot. (but then- i like strong flavorful pure coffee) daily walks should be enhanced with black-current ice cream- from the food shops it is cheaper, but easier to find from a streetside vendor.
near the circus (at the circus, don't pay the extra amount the sign says to pay at "window 3"- to "fully validate your ticket" it is only written in english! a fool's tax!) are many concerts, ballet, theatres (not cinemas- live theatre) performances. all are within walking distance. spb is a wonderful city. easy to get around. enjoy everything!

When the evening starts – walk along the channels – Griboyedob Channel is awesome – Church on the Split Blood, Russin Musuem and other fantastic buildings, go to the Dvortsovaya Ploshad( Palace Square) and the Newa embankment there).
In the evening I like most to sit in the cafe:
For example one with a good view but quite expensive desserts – Dom Knigi on Nevskiy Prospekt – fantastic view over the crowded street and Kazanskiy Cathedral and the cafe is on the second floor of a big bookstore.
Interesting atmosphere and design with typical and sometimes soviet russian things and live music in cafe Sundukh – metro station Chernyshevskaya , Furshtatskaya street 42 – very close to metro station.
For sure – book tickets to a concert of classical music or to jazz phlarmony, to ballet or opera house – lots of them in the city – <a href="http://www.bileter.ru” target=”_blank”>www.bileter.ru – there are contact phone numbers, assistants speak English.
Just walk a lot – Nevskiy Prospekt, Vladimirskiy Prospekt, all the small streets around these areas – there is a lot to see even if you live there all your life:)
In any news stand you can buy a city-guide for enterntainment, clubs, cinema and so on – it is called Time Out . Or check there website in advance –
Good luck! You will definitely like it!
