Question by Rusty S: What percentage of Russia’s WW2 wartime equipment was supplied by the United States?
I saw in a book once that we only supplied Russia with 4% of all it wartime supplies thruough the lend lease act. Does anybody have and real numbers with Refrences. I dont want any of that “they couldnt have won the war without us crap” that is like saying we fought the Civil war just to end slavery.

Let’s have ourselves another example, during my life I have spent tens of thousands of dollars in child support, even when my kids lived with me. If you are a male and want to keep your kids from a wild drug addicted bitch, then forget it. and if you try to prevent it, then you get a restraining order, a judgement in absencia and are prohibited from even seeing your children, even if they have been living with you for over a year. Let me make a final observation, from an elite soldiers point of view. War is not hell, war is a living nightmare where every moment can be your last moment. situations can flip to death with a heartbeat. America wants to antagonize Russia? or china? or anywhere?. As I look at the broader scale of what communism really means, It seems a simplistic answer to an emergency situation created by itself. There is always a boogie man in Marxist ideology. LIke teaching a child to fear monsters. A reprehensible thing on the surface but with a solid grain of truth. For example, how to teach your 5 year old not to burn down your house? My father held my hand above a gas stove when I was 4 years old and lightly burned me. That was all I needed to make me respect something I knew nothing about. The thing is, at some point this person will go on with his life with a sense of awareness. Let me help your college teachers a bit more though. It is true that the low estimate of soviet death was 26 million, however , battlefield death rates were about 15 million vs german death certificates were about 8 million. Moreover, the actual death rate for Russia was about 60 million vs a population of some 240 million, so , in shorthand, Stalin murdered , at a rate of 4 to 1 Russian citizens than the german army. So in short, socialism is a form of brutal conquest, Russia and Germany were both socialist. The USA at that time were in a socialist struggle themselves, which continues to this very day of 2/28/18. To social justice warriors like stalin, hitler, and even the bushes and Obama, this is just a needed step towards a fantastic unicorn striven utopia. where the actual population is of the lightest consideration to the grand experiment.

To put it plainly, without the west, Russia would have fallen during 1942. FDR (a closet Marxist) had no interest in the lives of the average American. Except that he knew that the populace would not tolerate millions of dead in a foreign war. Which would have dashed his beloved socialist Marxist belief of a grand better version of communism to a rocky death. If you were to extract just the 800,000 trucks ameriica sent to Murmansk during 1938-1940 , then there would not even have been possible a single soviet factory. Without the 2000 locomotives and 20,000 rail cars, 19,000 fighter planes and 12,000 tanks , 10 billion tons of food , 50,000 artillery pieces and an endless cornucopia of assorted materials ranging from cotton to guncotton. the Russian communist state would have quickly fallen. Billions of tons of raw materials were sent to this reprehensible regime of murderers by the west. Just because of duped and deluded FDR thought nothing of the average American.

Those of you saying ‘It wasn’t much.’ are ignorant. We sent them almost FOUR HUNDRED THOUSAND trucks. That ALONE made it possible for them to practice mobile warfare (which they learned from almost getting their asses beat by the Germans), and concentrate their own production on tanks, so they could outnumber the Germans in that vital category. Without US aid, they might have beaten the Germans, but it would have taken a couple more years and cost untold additional lives.

That's about the right figure. There was a couple from the Soviet Union who ran their lend lease office in Washington during the war. The lady wound up running listener services for the English service of Radio Moscow for many years thereafter. She said it was less than 5% overall.

However much we GAVE them, it was too much.
One of our B29s made an emergency landing in there, and it took them a year to return it. They copied it in every detail and produced it for themselves. Same thing for the BOMB.

I would say that 4% sounds about right. Most of the equiptment we supplied them with was ground vehicles (namely half-tracks and sherman tanks) and some aircraft (the P-39 mostly).
However, the Russians had a very large industrial capacity during the war, even building a small city based around a tank plant (tankograd). The Russian method was to flood their forces with low-quality, quickly-manufactured weapons and equipment in hope the quantity would beat the German's quality. Thus, the number of items they produced relative to the number of items we (or anyone else) supplied to them is very large, so 4% isnt very far off.

It is a veritable fact that Murmansk had 2 million ships landing there during ww2 with billions of tons of supplies guns, armor , entire air forces of say.. our air force today. through Murmansk went 3 times our entire tank army we have even today. at least our entire air fleet, and if you can imagine a million of the best 6 wheel drive trucks ever manufactured. each truck was capable of carrying 10,000 pounds in nearly any terrain
