Question by kyle: What was a rough estimate of the Cost per Day of the Soviet War in Afghanistan?
I am looking for a Rough estimate of the Cost per Day of the Soviet war in Afghanistan, as well as a rough estimate of the dollar amount of War material lost in total over the entire 8 year war.

Well, you’re in for some surprises. The one being, Soviet prices were artificial. Meaning, we have no idea what the prices for anything were.
However, there are SOME techniques to GUESS at these prices, but they are far from reliable.
The CIA needed to estimate the amount of Soviet military expenditure. They calculated that half (50%) of the Soviet Unions GDP was directed towards the military. Where as the Soviet calculations had only 5% of their GDP going towards the military.
My response to this question is that I too would like to see what RELIABLE sources people have to give.
