What was life like in Russia during the Soviet Union?

Question by IsingIdanceIact: What was life like during the Soviet Union?
We have to write a paper in World Geography about living in the Soviet Union back then and what it would be like to live in it now. Have any ideas? I’m clueless.

Can’t speak for the USSR, but in the UK, things were a little paranoid and colours were much less vivid.
