What Was So Evil About Rasputin?

Question by Melissa L: What Was So Evil About Grigori Rasputin?
People have many names for him such as “The Holy Devil” and “The Mad Monk”.

Putting it briefly he came from a small village and passed himself off as a healer. The Tzar and his wife were convinced of his abilities and wanted him to heal their son.

It is then said he was pretty much controlling Russia and that he was influencing the Tzar.

Was Rasputin really a bad person?

Grigori Yefimovich Rasputin (Russian: Григо́рий Ефи́мович Распу́тин) (22 January [O.S. 10 January] 1869 – 29 December [O.S. 16 December] 1916) was a Russian mystic who is perceived as having influenced the later days of the Russian Tsar Nicholas II, his wife the Tsaritsa Alexandra, and their only son the Tsarevich Alexei. Rasputin had often been called the “Mad Monk”,[1] while others considered him a “strannik” (or religious pilgrim) and even a starets (ста́рец, “elder”, a title usually reserved for monk-confessors), believing him to be a psychic and faith healer.[1]

According to christian doctorine, he was a witch (thou shall not suffer a witch to live) As a Pagan, my thoughts concerning mysticism are much different. I think Rasputin was a holy man. Funny, a christian would condemn a man that has the ability to heal, like Jesus did.

No he was not a bad person.

Yes, he was a womanizer and used his skills as a "healer" to bring them to him. He was even rumored to have had an affair with Catherine the Great. He was sadistic and went mad in later years.

He ruled the Russian land and never mind the czar
But the kasachok he danced really wunderbar
In all affairs of state he was the man to please
But he was real great when he had a girl to squeeze
For the queen he was no wheeler dealer
Though she'd heard the things he'd done
She believed he was a holy healer
    Who would heal her son
