What was the life in the USSR?

Question by Kimmy Cordero: How do you think life in the USSR?
In many areas of the world, women work at jobs and careers outside the home. How do you think life in the USSR would have been different if women had also been participants in the higher levels of government, in addition to being part of the workforce in factories and on farms?

  1. Wave2012 says

Many women were in the government in USSR.
For example, 1984, 33% of members of "Supreme Soviet" were women.
There were strict obligations to include women from Commitee of soviet women in government on its different levels.

Dynamics of share of women in Supreme Soviet in USSR:
    1937 – 16,5%
    1954 – 25,9%
    1966 – 28,2%
    1974 – 31,5%
    1984 – 33%
    Then share started to decrease.

But by the end of 1980s when "democratic' tendencies became more popular share of women in government decreased dramatically (about 15% in 1990 and now about 5%).
