What world dynamic was created with Russia-Georgia conflict?

Question by wiseguy: What sort of world dynamic has been created with the Russia / Georgia conflict?
I didn’t know much about the country of Georgia until I saw their president pleading for help to fend off a Russian invasion. At first, it seemed as if Georgia had sustained an unprovoked attack. But the more information that I obtained, it would appear that Georgia offensively struck the former autonomous region of Osettia, an area within Georgia that has strong ethnic ties to Russia, apparently in an effort to solidify it’s control over the oil rich region. It reminds me of what happened with Yugoslavia.

well i have a speculation too, as reported in the news georgia provoked the attack first by firing into osettia region and russia defended it. The west are quick to call it a russian invasion at any chance to use it as an excuse for US to stop russia from territorial gains. The news also reported that the region are more russian loyal and wants to be part of russia. I think georgia realizes that and it is a matter of time before the region agrees to join back to russia so georgia attacked them. Georgia knows US will be quick to condemn russia and they used us to stop russia from taking over the region. Russia has no interest in georgia but in osettia. Besides Georgia and US has same purpose of denying russian territorial gain. This is just my speculation
