Where are the safest places in Russia for a UK woman to travel to alone?

Question by stephanie_dee24: Where are the best/safest places in Russia for a 22yr old UK woman to travel to alone?
I’d love to visit Russia, but my friends have scared me a bit by telling me that it’s not safe for a woman to travel there by herself. Is this true? And if so, where are the safest places to go?
