Which edition of Crime and Punishment by Fyodor Dostoevsky is first?

Question by Matt K: Which edition of Crime and Punishment by Fyodor Dostoevsky is the 1st edition?
Okay so here’s the story: Looking to buy a copy of Crime and Punishment for a friend of mine (as a birthday gift), and he’s specifically stated it has to be the 1st edition, but I have no idea how to tell which one is which. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I think it usually says that stuff on the page with the copyright and publisher. Ask a local bookseller.
