Question by Katana M: Which translation of Anna Karenina is better?
The one by Volokhonsky (http://www.amazon.com/Anna-Karenina-Oprahs-Book-Club/dp/0143035002) or by Maude (http://www.booksamillion.com/product/9780679410003?id=4426747247557) and why. I simply don’t know the difference between the two.
Thanks!

I’m pretty sure that Richard Peaver and Larissa Volokhonsky won an award for their translation. I’ve read several of their translations of Dostoevsky’s work and I thought they did an excellent job. Not that I speak Russian or anything, but I still felt like they did a good job of capturing the essence of the story.
