Who did more to win the war for the Allies in WWII?

Question by Brian: Who do you think did more to win the war for the Allies in WWII, the USSR or the US?
USSR supporters would use Stalingrad as an example that the USSR did more

US supporters would use D-Day as an example that the USSR did more.

Please provide good, adequate reasons.

The Soviets. When the war turned in Stalingrad it was effectively over. The Soviets were going to chase the Nazis all the way back to Germany and everyone knew it. A strong case can be made that the U.S. landing on the beaches of Normandy was an effort to prevent Europe from becoming socialist, not to defeat the Nazis.

Oh please, Desdamona-girl get some brains.
The USSR had more soldiers who died, had more tanks, bombs and more fighters than any country who participated in the world war II. You can use ANY example, but please stay objective. Statics tell us the truth. You can say anything what you want but the shift in the war was at the Barbarossa plan. Why couldn't England or France defeat the Nazis? The US dropped two bombs in Japan alright, so Japan had no other way than to surrender itself.

The USSR won the war with Hitler, the US won the war with Japan (USSR participated also in the east but in much less numbers of 'force').

There are way more facts that the USSR won the war for the Allies, for example the Battle of Stalingrad (it was the biggest front in human history), there are more than 20 million registered Sovjet victims and much more unregistered victims, I can go on and on.

Lets not be such a dumb*ss and say 'why we don't speak German'.
The USSR and the USS became worldleaders what in my opinion shouldn't make another war about worldpower. I hope the next generation people will have more interest in truth than in lies or prapaganda, no mather where your from or where your at.

Since USA was a Johnny come lately into WWII and in those early days, it was UK and Russia that held the Fort,
the answer must be the USSR.

The Soviet Union did more – they lost many millions more people (soldiers and civilians) than the United States, because their country was invaded, and they had to rebuild it afterwards. They also fought longer than we did, since they entered the war six months before us, and we didn't even send invasion forces until August, 1942 (Guadalcanal), November, 1942 (North Africa), July, 1943 (Sicily) and June, 1944 (Normandy). Stalin kept demanding that we open a "Second Front" in Europe, and we kept insisting we needed more time, while the Soviet Union struggled alone against the Wehrmacht. We did, however, spend more money on the war than the Soviets, and they never repaid their "Lend-Lease" debts.

Neither, Hitler was his own undoing.
If he hadn't attacked the USSR he wouldn't have been fighting a two front war. Although after war the intelligence suggested that the treaty that Hitler and Stalin signed, which Hitler broke, was not going to be honored by the Soviets anyway.

I am no great military strategist but I think if he hadn't been so greedy and had stopped at France and had not encouraged the Japanese to attack that he would have been successful.
When the US entered it pretty much sealed his doom.

He had state of the art technology, manpower, public appeal and a devoted military. All great equations for victory.

    JUST TOO MUCH PRIDE.

Are you kidding me with this?
As the Soviets moved west, the Allies moved in from Normandy.
But, the Soviets NEVER retreated from any land they gained.
In the Pacific, we lost millions of men, island to island.
Who dropped the bomb and saved both the Japanese and American lives? The U.S.
You have to ask? Damn right, you'd all be speaking German if not for the U.S. This is why we are arrogant, our soldiers' bodies are buried all over the world. Yes we're arrogant. Live with it.

How many German Divisions were tied up along the Eastern Front?
How many German Divisions were tied up in France to try to repel the invasion?
Look those statistics up and it becomes obvious who carried the water in Europe in WWII.
The good thing is that we supplied the Soviets with aircraft and other munitions and helped them beat the hell out of the Nazis.

    The USSR.

2 main reasons: They were the reason Hitler had to split his force (fighting to the West and the East), and they were in the war longer.

While the entrance of the US put the Allies over the top, the USSR did more during the war.
