Question by will skate for nutella: Why did Stalin Decide to rule as a Totalitarian?
I am doing a research paper on Joseph Stalin’s decision to rule as a totalitarian. I need to know some causes as to why he decided this, and also some effects. It would also be helpfull if you guys could post some sources as to where you got the information from, that would be great. I am not expecting too much, but I just need some basic background info. Thanks to anyone who helps.

Anatol Kuragin says
Because the U.S.S.R. (a great power in history) was in bad shape at the time. She was reeling back from the effects of World War 1 and the Bolshevik Revolution while Germany was becoming very strong in Europe. So Stalin decided to collectivize everything (farming, heavy industry, education) in order to make the Russian people and their country strong again.
