Question by scorpus23: Why does The USA allow Russia to have more nuclear weapons than they have themselves?
Why would the USA allow Russia to have more of these “Nuclear Weapons”?
What’s preventing them from developing more Nuclear Weapons than Russia has?
I don’t see a reason why they’d let Russia have more and not do anything about it or make more Nukes for themselves to outdo Russia….
A couple people on Yahoo Answers said Russia has more but on TV they said The USA does so I still don’t know for sure which one has more…
But if Russia does why would the USA allow it?

The US has enough weapons to blow up the earth at least four times. Russia has about twice as many as us so between the two of us we have enough to blow up the world at least 10-12 times. I don’t see why either of us need any more. I think it’s a mute point after you have enough to destroy the world once.
There’s a lot of other things we could be spending the money on. Like the two other wars we are already involved in, not to mention the million other problems our country has. We should probably try and avoid resurrecting the cold war if at all possible.

thats bull crap, the russia dont have a missle defense system , we do and that why they dont want up to deploy it and threayen us if we do, regan wanted to deploy it in space , we also can shoot a missle down and we proven it and no one had that till we gave to Israel and some other countries

the USA may not be telling all they have so the other countries dont try to match it which would be a smart move

Russia has more nuclear weapons and they have better defences, so we don't have enough to destroy them. They can stop 90% of our missiles, and we can maybe stop 1% of theirs, so they could easily destroy the US 10 to 1.

I don't think the US really cares what Russia has as most of the Russian technology is miles behind the west anyway.The Russian idea of more is better has always been flawed and the US was happy to trade numbers for quality.

It just takes 200 nukes to literally wipe civilisation off the face of the planet. It wouldn't matter if Russia had (hypothetically speaking) a 100,000 nukes while the US had 10,000, as both would never dare to attack one another. Hell, having one nuke is more than enough to deter your enemies from attacking you.
So, they are not building more nukes because:
*Building nukes is expensive, and the money could be spent one something more useful.
*They have more than enough
to obliterate every square inch of Russia, and vice versa.
Also, you should be worried more by those who have just one nuke, than those who stockpile thousands.

Last time I looked the USA was not the leader of the world, other nations don't need the USA's permission. Russia are in fact designing new launch systems. You have to realise the US is no longer a superpower it isnt the power it was 50 years ago.
Russia has twice as many active nukes than the USA.

As Rhett said, because it doesn't really matter. They both have enough to destroy the world several times if they really wanted to (There is no known limit to the size of a Hydrogen Fusion bomb). If either one pressed the button it would probably lead to mutually assured destruction anyway!

Don't know..I don't really trust Russia (or China for that matter..just today I read an article saying that both China and Russia vetoed imposing more sanctions onto Iran…I'm really pissed
